Five Driver Arrested For Overdue Alcohol

At midnight on June 15, 2023, IPD Johor Bahru Selatan Road Block caught drunk driving, 5 people drinking test (1 female 4 male) exceeded the standard!

#JohorBahruSelatan, 15 June 2023 (Thursday) – Johor Bahru Southern IPD Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPTD JBS) managed to arrest five local drivers for driving under the influence of excessive alcohol in the body at KM 4 Jalan Johor Bahru – Kota Tinggi.

As drunk drivers are statistically more likely to cause crashes, enforcement with integrity is stepped up to send a signal that authorities are working together with the community in efforts to tackle the problem.

For those offences, all of those drivers were charged under Section 45A (1) Road Transport Act 1987 which allotts a maximum prison sentence of two years and a minimum fine of RM10,000 and not exceeding RM30,000, if convicted of offence.

The Johor Bahru South District Police once advised the public not to drive under the influence of drunk conditions as it not only endangers oneself but also threatens the safety of other road users.

WHAT IS SECTION 45A (1) ?

Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 states that a person who drives a motor vehicle on a road without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for another persons using the road shall be guilty of an offence. The punishment for this offence is a fine of not less than four thousand ringgit and not more than ten thousand ringgit, and imprisonment for a term not exceeding twelve months 1.
